Interesting times in the WWE. HBK in the hall of fame, Barret off to Smackdown, the "new Nexus" and Cena return?

Good afternoon squared circleers and Happy New Year to you all! Firstly my apologies for lack of postings since New Years eve it has been a busy time but hopefully everything should be back on track now!

We've certainly had an interesting few weeks in the WWE since the New Year, a few highlights for me:

1) Dolph Ziggler looses the Intercontinental Championship to Kofi Kingston

Shughes' Views: This was obviously going to happen, Ziggler is a class above the intercontinental and Kingston has received such a push in recent months that it was inevitable!

2) Dolph Ziggler becomes the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship in a fatal fourway vs The Big Show, Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre.

Shughes' Views: This was very clever, having Teddy Long absent for the week leaving Vickie Guerrero in charge of Smackdown meant she could swiftly add Dolph Ziggler into the matchup. I'm glad to see Dolph Ziggler at this level he is worthy of a shot at the big boy on the Smackdown brand. I'm in no way convinced that he will win his championship match (that i'm assuming will be at the Royal Rumble) against Edge definitely not on his first shot anyway. I look forward to this match irregardless!

3) Wade Barret officially out of the "new Nexus" after loosing in a triple threat cage match to determine the number one contender for the WWE Championship vs Randy Orton and King Sheamus. CM Punk interferes. Barret booted to Smackdown without so much as a mention.

Shughes' Views: I've got to say I was disappointed that Barret couldn't remain in control of the Nexus by winning in the triple threat match, but alongside that i've got to say that I wasn't surprised, I think it's been a long time coming for Mr Barret to get the boot from his group but perhaps a bit more build up and a bit more recognition for the guy who has made Nexus what it is was called for... I mean who the hell gives a shit about that Wendy's girl Heath Slater? Looking at the cage match with CM Punks interference you could read the emotions from Barret perfectly you could see the trust in his eyes as he reached out for CM Punk's hand but alas his trust was placed badly! In a way I think this move to Smackdown will be good for Barret, the WWE can build him up as an actual solo performer and I think title gold will soon be around his waist... he certainly has the talent and can certainly create the heat for the perfect heel!

4) John Cena injured... but not really.

Shughes' Views: I find this whole situation rather hilarious... it ended up him having a week off, Monday he appeared "live via satellite" and then performed in the Dark Match after the show... so playing along with appearances for the TV crowd still having to practice though!

5) Shawn Michaels... The Heart Break Kid inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Shughes' Views: Interesting, shocking but logically the most obvious choice. We should really have seen this one coming... Shawn Michaels perhaps WWE's most beloved of Superstars makes it into the first Hall of Fame after his retirement... come on guys that was a cert... maybe we were all too convinced his was going to come back yet again and have yet another pop at the 'taker. All the best Shawn, great accolade for you!

Sam's pick for the Royal Rumble.

With the Rumble coming up on the 30th of January it's time for the speculation to begin!
My pick for the Rumble
*Drum Roll Please*
/Well I have two but whatever/

Surprise entry - Triple H
or
Wade Barret

Personally I'd rather the inevitable surprise entry, which looks like it will be Triple H considering he isn't already back, didn't win the Rumble because that's so predictable but w/e.

Later guys!
